12 Book Recommendations for Hodderscape Reading Challenge 2019

I’m always on the lookout for reading challenges and I found this one quite by accident when compiling my post about the reading challenges to watch out for in 2019. Run by the sci-fi and fantasy imprint of Hodder and Stoughton, this has some wonderful prompts that will appeal to both readers looking to start reading more speculative fiction and veterans of the genre like me. I wanted to share my TBR for this reading challenge today that double up as book recommendations because I’ve heard excellent things about all of the books in the below list.

24 Book Recommendations for Read Harder Challenge 2019

I started falling in love with the wonderful bookish site called Book Riot from the time I started listening to their podcasts. It was an inevitable thing that I found myself taking up the Read Harder challenge by them this year when I was planning my reading. I also mentioned it in my post on the 5 best reading challenges to help you take your reading to the next level in 2019. In that post, I’d promised a recommendations post, so here I am today with 24 books that you can add to your TBR that will count towards Book Riot’s Read Harder Challenge 2019. I must warn you that I’ve unfortunately not read every book on the list because some of the prompts are way outside my comfort zone, so I will indicate those with an asterisk.

5 Irresistible Reading Challenges of 2019

Reading is a purely solitary activity and I find that it’s quite easy to stick to a comfortable, predictable pattern. I personally read a lot of fantasy and very rarely do I reach for other genres because I know my reading tastes well. However, I feel like there are so many other amazing books waiting to sneak into my “Favourites” shelf who don’t belong to the genre I read the most. 2019 is the year I’ve decided to take the plunge and challenge myself to read out of my comfort zone. In order to accomplish that, I did a bit of digging around on the Internet and settled on five wonderful reading challenges that I want to attempt. Every month from now I will be giving recommendations for each of the challenges I mention in this post. I hope my list inspires you to push beyond your limits as a reader too!
