Top Ten Tuesday: Rainy Day Reads

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish> in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. How it works is that each Tuesday the host assigns a topic and then posts their top ten list that fits the topic. Every blogger can create their own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well and link to the host’s. The topic for June 19th, 2018 is: Books to Read By the Pool/At the Beach. As you all probably know by now, I live in India where the monsoon has set in and the warm summer days are long gone. So I changed up the prompt and decided to give you reading recommendations that go really well with a cup of tea and a warm, comfortable reading nook by the window when it is pouring outside. The feel I’m going for is something that is dark and hard-hitting like the violent thunderstorms but leave you feeling wholesome and good at the end just like the rain is good for the earth. ‘Read a book perfect for a rainy day‘ is one of the prompts of the Indian Lit Readathon that is being hosted by myself and three other Indian blogging friends, Shruti @ This is Lit, Charvi @ Not Just Fiction and Aditi @ Dreamy Reads, so you can add the ones written by an Indian author to your readathon TBR! For more details, check out the announcement post here.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Wish I’d DNF-ed

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. The topic for June 5th, 2018 was about DNF-ed books. DNF stands for Did Not Finish for those unfamiliar with this term. Since I have DNF-ed maybe a book or two in my entire life, I thought I’d change up the topic to talk about some of the books I wish I had stopped reading because they were either not worth my time or I ended up not liking as much as I would have if I had read it another time.

Top Ten Tuesday: Asian Lit Rainbow Book Recommendations

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. The topic for May 8th, 2018 is: Books With My Favorite Color On the Cover (or In the Title). I feel like a lot of people are going to choose the colour purple for sure, so I decided to change the prompt. Since I’m taking part in the Asian Lit Bingo, a month-long reading challenge in May hosted by Lit CelebrAsian, I decided to recommend some of my favourite Asian stories. There’s one each for every colour of the rainbow, so I’ll be doing 7 instead of 10 this time around.

Top Ten Tuesday: ARCs on My Wishlist

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. The topic for May 1st, 2018 is: Books I’d Slay a Lion to Get Early. I do believe myself to be an environmentally conscious and non-violent person, so I’d never really slay a lion even if I encountered one, so let me rephrase that to: Books I’d Wish upon a Shooting Star to Get Early. I hope you’re all taking notes because these should definitely be on your TBR as well!

Top Ten Tuesday: Spring/Summer Cover Love

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. There was no set topic for April 17th, 2018. as it was freebie, so I decided to go with: New Releases With a Spring/Summer Cover. It’s that time of the year again where the northern hemisphere is transitioning to warmer weather and I absolutely love covers that reflect this and happen to come out around the April-May timeframe. These are not necessarily all on my TBR, but either have some great diverse rep or are rated highly. I hope you all enjoy feasting your eyes on these beauties and piling them on top of your precariously balanced TBR stacks!

(Note: The average rating for these books will definitely change as more people rate them on Goodreads. These were the ratings as on 15th April, 2018, so please click on the Goodreads link provided to check the updated rating.)

This was a really hard one, but I managed to fill all the spots this time. It’s going to be quite a short post, with me giving an overview of why I liked the character and not the book in one line each.
