Top Ten Tuesday: My Bookish Best Friends

If you’re reading this for the very first time or are a regular reader of my blog, I’m so very grateful to you! I’m finding so much happiness in blogging and connecting with readers all over the world thanks to your support. However, this post isn’t about me or what I’m up to. I’m writing this to thank all the friends who have stuck with me through my blogging journey and have influenced me to become the blogger and reader I am today. These lovely people have not only liked my posts, commented on them, shared them and endorsed my blog but also replied to my tweets and loved my Bookstagram pictures. They are so good at blogging that they inspire me to do better. They have listened to me rant and validated my feelings. I can’t possibly limit this list to a 10! Without further ado, let me introduce these amazing people on my blog today! I must mention that most of them fall under multiple categories and I’ve listed them in this way just for convenience.

Top Ten Tuesday: Epic Book Mashup!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. How it works is that each Tuesday the host assigns a topic and then posts their top ten list that fits the topic. Every blogger can create their own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well and link to the host’s. The topic for August 7th, 2018 is: Books You’d Mash Together. This basically means that you pick two books you think would make an epic story if combined. I have 5 exciting mashups to show you all today, so let’s get into the post.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Lived up to the Hype

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Every blogger can create their own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well and link to the host’s. The topic for July 31st, 2018 is: Popular Books that Lived Up to the Hype. I’d done a blog post similar to this way back in February – Reading Hyped Books. What I’m going to do today instead is talk about books that were recommended to me by my bookish friends that were as good or even better than they told me it would be. I trust their reviews implicitly and would like to give them a shout-out because I usually decide my TBR based on friends’ opinion rather than read whatever is popular. I’m also going to mention one book that I want to add to my TBR because this person loves it or has recommended to me.

Top Ten Tuesday: Unforgettable Bookish Memories Book Tag

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. How it works is that each Tuesday the host assigns a topic and then posts their top ten list that fits the topic. Every blogger can create their own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well and link to the host’s. The topic for July 24th, 2018 is: Books That Are Linked to Specific Memories/Moments In Your Life. I’d been tagged by Etinosa to do the ‘Unforgettable Bookish Memories’ tag way back in May, but I have only found the time to get to it now. Tags are really fun to do for me personally, so I’m always looking for a chance to include them without making it seem like too much. I was so stoked that this week’s TTT topic matched perfectly with the book tag that I couldn’t resist pairing them up. The tag has 9 questions which is why I’m adding an extra one to make it a proper 10.

Top Ten Tuesday: Short Story Anthologies on My TBR

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Every blogger can create their own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well and link to the host’s. The topic for July 17th, 2018 is: Favorite Novellas/Short Stories. I haven’t read a lot of short stories or novellas, so I wanted to change the topic to suit my reading habits. Recently, I have been curious about short story anthologies as they are great to sample the writing of different authors to see if their other stories would be a good fit for me. If you’ve read my April-May wrap-up post, I had featured an anthology in the June Anticipated Releases section, which is what got me interested in these in the first place. I haven’t read any that I remember, so these are the ones on my TBR. I’ll talk about three of them that are on my priority list and give a quick mention of the others.

Top Ten Tuesday: Best Books of 2018 (So Far) + Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. How it works is that each Tuesday the host assigns a topic and then posts their top ten list that fits the topic. Every blogger can create their own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well and link to the host’s. The topic for July 10th, 2018 is: Best Books I’ve Read In 2018 (So Far). I decided to combine it with a tag today because I didn’t have a lot to say about my favourites other than I hope that everyone reads it and loves it as well because they’re SO GOOD! I had initially planned to do the Mid-Year Book Freak Out tag on a Saturday post but it just wouldn’t fit in the timeline for this month. Two things to note: nobody actually tagged me to do it (at least not to my knowledge) and although I’ve rated many more than 10 books 5 stars already this year, I wanted to feature some lesser-known but excellent stories so that they get more hype.

Top Ten Tuesday: Indian Flag Colours on My TBR

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. How it works is that each Tuesday the host assigns a topic and then posts their top ten list that fits the topic. Every blogger can create their own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well and link to the host’s. The topic for July 3rd, 2018 is: Books with Red, White, & Blue Covers (In honor of the 4th of July in the USA. Choose covers with your own country’s colours if you prefer!) I decided to go with the colours of my country as they are more challenging. If you’re not familiar with the flag, it has 3 equal bands of saffron, white and green from top to bottom with the blue Ashoka Chakra in the middle. However, the flag was not always like this and there is a rich history behind its design. You can check out some Indian non-fiction books discussing the events of the pre-Independence era to know more about that. I’ve decided to showcase 3 books from my TBR having orange, white and greenish hues on their covers each and one that has blue, rounding out the required 10 books for the list. Also, the books having the same colour all belong to the same genre.
