Top Ten Tuesday: Cosy Winter Book Recommendations

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. How it works is that each Tuesday the host assigns a topic and then posts their top ten list that fits the topic. Every blogger can create their own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well and link to the host’s. The topic for December 4th, 2018 is: Cozy/Wintry Reads. Today I bring to you a list of five fantasy books that I think is perfect to read around the winter time. Winter reading is not complete without a cosy candle burning by the side, so I have included some suggestions for literary candles from small businesses that I think are a perfect match for the books mentioned.

The kind of villains I like are the ones who are morally grey and relatable people. There should be a little bit of good in them, or at least the possibility of good. Here I list down five of my favourites, along with what I like and dislike about them.

Being an Indian bookworm, it’s tough to come across libraries that house the kind of books I want to read. While I’ve given up on finding one that will cater to all my needs, there are a few magical places around the world I want to visit just for the sheer beauty of their bookshelves or decor. In this list I’ve curated, there are 5 bookstores and 5 libraries, with no two being in the same continent. I really hope this list inspires some of you to travel to these gorgeous destinations!

There are several different ways to interpret this but I’m going with the most straight-forward one. I read books in several different formats, so it’s tough to compare those. Instead, I’ll be listing the top ten books that felt like they were long to me as I read them rather than look up and compare page counts on Goodreads. Also, I’m only going to mention a book from a series just once.

I’m sure it’s every reader’s dream to have the opportunity to meet their literary idols at least once in their lifetime. As I’m living in India, I don’t get the privilege of doing so at book conventions, meet-ups, release parties or signings. However, I have quite an active imagination, so I’ve compiled a list of things to (never ever) do when you do get the chance to meet your favourite authors.

I’m very guilty of not reading outside of a few books that I love by the lovely humans I consider my favourite writers. Without trying to make any excuses for this unacceptable bookworm behaviour, let me show you my list.

Today I will showcase ten of them, divided into five different categories.
