The Best Diverse Middle Grade Fantasy Reading List

Middle grade fantasy is what got me into reading and I find that no matter how old I become, I still have a soft spot for this genre. When I was a little girl, the narratives had very little diversity but the landscape has changed since then. However, I’ve been reading significantly lesser middle grade books these days and leaning more towards young adult and adult stories. I want to consciously add more diverse MG books to my TBR, so I did some research and came up with a list of 10 books that were highly praised and recommended. I’m sharing that with you in today’s post in the hopes that you can find an interesting book or two to pick up for yourself, your children if you are a parent or your class in case you’re an educator.

Top 10 Books I Want to Read This Spring (2019)

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. How it works is that each Tuesday the host assigns a topic and then posts their top ten list that fits the topic. Every blogger can create their own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well and link to the host’s. The topic for March 19th, 2019 is: Books On My Spring 2019 TBR.

24 Book Recommendations for Read Harder Challenge 2019

I started falling in love with the wonderful bookish site called Book Riot from the time I started listening to their podcasts. It was an inevitable thing that I found myself taking up the Read Harder challenge by them this year when I was planning my reading. I also mentioned it in my post on the 5 best reading challenges to help you take your reading to the next level in 2019. In that post, I’d promised a recommendations post, so here I am today with 24 books that you can add to your TBR that will count towards Book Riot’s Read Harder Challenge 2019. I must warn you that I’ve unfortunately not read every book on the list because some of the prompts are way outside my comfort zone, so I will indicate those with an asterisk.

February Wrap-Up + March Reading Month (2019)

Happy March to all my lovely readers! It’s already reached summer temperatures here in my city and I find myself excited about the change. I seem to have found a renewed energy in pursuing the goals I’d set for myself at the beginning of the year. I also started re-reading an old inspirational book that was a favourite of mine as a teenager, which has helped me cope with all the things life has thrown at me in February. I hope I can keep this momentum going throughout the year! Now, let’s talk about the month that just went by and my plans for the upcoming one.

January Wrap-Up + February Reading Month (2019)

Happy February to all my wonderful readers! January was over within the span of a breath and I find myself writing another wrap-up post. However, there isn’t much to say as I didn’t get a lot done. I had very lofty ideas on how to make drastic changes in several aspects of my life and some of them never happened. Nevertheless, I’m going to redouble my efforts this month and hope for the best! For now, let me update you on how my January was.
