October Wrap-Up + November Reading Month (2018)

October was one of the worst months of my life, to be honest. Not in terms of the books I read or anything related to that but personally. I don’t have a lot of words to share but I’m dealing with some really traumatic personal stuff, so I’d really appreciate some distance and understanding at the moment. It made me reconsider many things, go on a short hiatus at the end of October and I’ve been struggling since to get my life back to normal. This wrap-up may not be as detailed or wordy as usual mostly because I’m in the mood for brevity. However, sharing my love for books makes me feel marginally better, so I decided to write this post despite everything. With that sombre introduction out of the way, let me talk about the reading month I had and what I’m looking forward to in November.

Top Ten Tuesday: Beautiful Bookstores and Libraries Around the World

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. How it works is that each Tuesday the host assigns a topic and then posts their top ten list that fits the topic. Every blogger can create their own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well and link to the host’s. The topic for October 16th, 2018 is: Bookstores/Libraries I’ve Always Wanted to Visit. Being an Indian bookworm, it’s tough to come across libraries that house the kind of books I want to read. While I’ve given up on finding one that will cater to all my needs, there are a few magical places around the world I want to visit just for the sheer beauty of their bookshelves or decor. In this list I’ve curated, there are 5 bookstores and 5 libraries, with no two being in the same continent. I really hope this list inspires some of you to travel to these gorgeous destinations!

Book Blogging 101: How to Balance Blogging and Life

As I’ve mentioned in my September wrap-up post, the blog has hit 500 followers recently, for which I’m again deeply grateful. I couldn’t have done it without the support of this wonderful bookish community I’m proud to be a part of. As a thank you to all the wonderful people who support me, I wanted to do a blog post on any one aspect of book blogging that would be helpful for all book bloggers out there. I did a quick Twitter poll regarding this and the most wanted topic was how to grow your blog. While I was initially considering it, I don’t think I’m the best person to talk about this. I feel like there are other things I have better experience with and the first thing that popped into my mind was on how to maintain a balance between blogging and other things in life. I want to quickly mention that I will be tailoring my advice for book bloggers, but all bloggers who do it as a hobby can probably take away something from this. Also, if you find this to be helpful, please let me know in the comments if you want me to make this a recurring series, and if yes, what topics you’d like to see in the future. With that out of the way, let’s jump straight in!

September Wrap-up + October Reading Month (2018)

Weekends and new months are some of my favourite points in time, mostly because it means relaxation and a chance to start afresh. I didn’t really have a good reading month in September in terms of numbers but more on that later. It was a really hectic month and a bit of a low one for me personally. However, the blog did fabulously well and I’m so grateful for everyone’s continued support! Without further ado, let me launch into the details.

Top Ten Tuesday: Authors I’d Love to Meet

Every blogger can create their own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well and link to the host’s. The topic for October 2nd, 2018 is: Authors I’d Love to Meet. I’m sure it’s every reader’s dream to have the opportunity to meet their literary idols at least once in their lifetime. As I’m living in India, I don’t get the privilege of doing so at book conventions, meet-ups, release parties or signings. However, I have quite an active imagination, so I’ve compiled a list of things to (never ever) do when you do get the chance to meet your favourite authors.

10 Signs You’re a Tolkien Nerd

Happy Hobbit Day, free people of Middle-Earth! I’m so glad that it falls on a Saturday so I can marathon the movies and fulfil my goal of watching the movies every year. I wanted to write a post about how to throw the perfect Hobbit Day party, but I’m not much of a party person and realised I wasn’t in the right frame of mind to write a post like that.  If you’re a fan just like I am, you’re probably nodding along enthusiastically as I outline my plans. But how far does your obsession go? Are you a book purist or do you brag about how you’ve watched the Oscar award-winning movies? I’ve put together a list of book-related and movie-related points to help you quantify your love for all things Tolkien. It mostly centres on The Lord of the Rings series, Tolkien’s most famous work. For every one ‘yes’ you get one point and at the end you can tally up your scores to see measure your fandom score! Please note that this is just for fun and I’m not trying to imply anyone is a lesser fan if they haven’t done any of these.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books on My Fall TBR (2018)

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. I really want to get to as many books as I can, what with review copies piling up and my mood reading getting in the way of reading some of my most anticipated books. Today I will showcase ten of them, divided into five different categories.
