Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. How it works is that each Tuesday the host assigns a topic and then posts their top ten list that fits the topic. Every blogger can create their own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well and link to the host’s. The topic for January 1st, 2019 is: Best Books I Read In 2018.
Aru Shah and the End of Time by Roshani Chokshi
It was the perfect mix of fun, adventure and learnings with amazing characters and a well-paced plot.
The Burning Maze by Rick Riordan
My experience reading it was heart-breakingly emotional and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
A Thousand Beginnings and Endings edited by Ellen Oh and Elsie Chapman
“This amazingly diverse collection of stories made me fall in love with reading again.”
The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X. R. Pan
This book is so beautiful that anything I say about it pales in comparison to its magnificence.
A Spark of White Fire by Sangu Mandanna
This is #OwnVoices literature at its finest and all the different elements in it make my Indian heart so very happy to see on paper!
American Panda by Gloria Chao
I’m so happy that a book like this exists for today’s teens to read because I desperately wish I had something like this growing up.
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series by Jenny Han
This series enraptured me from beginning to end and I had the worst series hangover in 2018 after I finished because I loved it so much more than I expected to.
The Nowhere Girls by Amy Reed
The story shook me to my core and had me re-examining my beliefs, which is the mark of every good piece of literature.
Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman
I had a really pleasant experience listening to this and it has become one of my all-time favourite audiobooks!
The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang
This is the best adult fantasy and the best first book in a series I’ve read in 2018!
