Hello and welcome! This is my weekly series, Top Three Thursdays, or, for convenience, TTT. Every week I discuss my top three in any bookish topic. If you’d like to participate, write up a post on your blog and leave a link to it in the comments below.
The topic for today (30/03/17) is: Fantasy Standalones of 2017 I Want to Read
1. Long May She Reign by Rhiannon Thomas
After a positive review by a book blogger I trust, this is one launched to the top of my TBR pile when it comes to fantasy. As a kid, I wanted to become a scientist and I think I can easily relate to the main character. Clever female protagonists are my favourite, which seems to be especially lacking in fantasy. I’m sure I’ll end up loving this book.
2. Given to the Sea by Mindy McGinnis
Set for an April release, I initially fell in love with the cover. I was intrigued by the uniqueness of the storyline, at least from what I gathered from the blurb. I think I’ll hold off until I see a trusted review though because of the mixed reactions on Goodreads.
Beren and Lúthien by J. R. R. Tolkien
Okay, so it’s not technically a standalone as it is set in the Middle-Earth universe and there are many books in the same setting, but if you know anything about me, you know I’m a huge Tolkien nerd so of course this book had to be on my list!
What are some of the standalones you’d like to read?
